Can You Draw Better Than A Third Grader?

That's the title of my new reality TV series...jk. Actually this was today at Western Elementary with gifted 3rd graders talking about art. I showed samples, fielded some questions. Awesome group of kids. After telling them that I had moved to Newnan in 1984, one told me that his mom was born just 3 years before that. My knees went out and I had to carried to my wheelchair via a stretcher. To make me feel better, another told me that his grandmother was older than I was. One of my helpers told me that she wished her parents had enough money to have me paint her portrait...oh man:(
Overall, it's always a good time...kids are the best!

Last week a class of 3rd graders announced that I am not that old because I still walk and I walk without a cane. The week before, a 2nd grader reported to me that 2 of her friends were having a discussion about whether or not I would still be alive in 30 years.

I'm glad to hear that 3rd graders across the country are quite similar, glad you enjoyed your day with them. :-)

A friend's child who comes over on the weekends was sitting at the table with us for lunch not long ago. Hannah is 9. She was telling us about a contest at school for a new bike. every time you got a 100, your name went into a box for the drawing. Grover said, we didn't have anything like that when I was little. She quickly chimed, "I know....too bad they didn't have bikes back then......" tee hee Out of the mouths of babes.

Old Man Pate has a nice ring to it. At least you remembered you were there.
