The Fallen

This is a life drawing of my daughter that inspired the previously shown painting(Obelisk). 15 minute sketch. It had the look of a young widow grieving over a fallen soldier so I titled it "The Fallen". Conte/pastel.

Magic Slippers

Small still life of ballet slippers. 11X14

Farm in Fog

I've done a study of the "fog" effect on the Roscoe Road farm. I found it a difficult effect to achieve. I'm used to painting in a full range of values, I guess, and the main focus of this painting is probably only half that. I like the study but have not decided whether or not a larger work will follow. Maybe. 11X14 study will be in the next Espresso Lane show.

Foggy Farm

This past Saturday I woke up to a very foggy morning here in Newnan. I grabbed my camera and headed out to shoot some reference pictures for future paintings. This farm, a couple of miles from my house, is surrounded by development and I fear that it will be gone one day. I've wanted to paint it for several years but earlier reference photos did'nt spark my interest. I like the atmosphere here and plan at least a couple of works.
