Sold

In this economy, I think any sale is blog worthy. This painting sold at Panoply as a Christmas gift for someone. The scene shows an imagined view of Newnan around the turn of the century(1905ish) from a vantage point somewhere near Sprayberrys. The 1904 courthouse is visible as is the old First Baptist and First Methodist steeples.

Congrats! Nice painting, and I really enjoy following your blog. What size is this painting?

Don- Shown is 20x30...I later changed it to a 20x24 and liked it a little better.

Martin, this is absolutely beautiful. I've gone back several times to look at it, and am amazed at so many things here. Love your beautiful greens, great depth and color palette. Congratulations on the sale!

The work is indeed very beautiful and I am pleased to learn that it was purchased, especially in these hard economic times.

Congratulations!

Warmest regards,

Lovely painting. I can understand why it sold. I lived in the Newnan area for many years and it has certainly changed over the years.

Nice words all...thank you for your comments. Angela..I base my greens mostly around Sap Green with additions of raw sienna, cad yellow med, white, ultramarine...whatever it needs. I've always liked paintings with a large foreground and then a town or event of some sort in the distance with small highlights of color and light.
