Hangin 'round the Art House

Sometimes, for no apparent, perfectly normal looking models decide to hang from the ballet barre. Actually, this is the first time it's happened but it's quite a shocking thing to witness. I knocked three people over trying to get to my camera. Does anybody else on the planet have models this fun? I don't think so. Good times. Erin H was the crazy model but composed herself to do an outstanding job tonight. I liked several drawings including these two. The first drawing was a quick 10 minute study and the other one was 15 minutes. Both are conte with minimal pastel. Drawings...$225 each.

In this economy, I think any sale is blog worthy. This painting sold at Panoply as a Christmas gift for someone. The scene shows an imagined view of Newnan around the turn of the century(1905ish) from a vantage point somewhere near Sprayberrys. The 1904 courthouse is visible as is the old First Baptist and First Methodist steeples.

Fur Hats, Pink Floyd and Doughnuts

A class member suggested we do a "Dr. Zhivago" night. We did. Katie T came in a fur hat and heavy coat to give the look we were after. Drawing shown is 15 minutes conte and pastel. I forgot my "stumps" that I use to blend the conte so I used a napkin...interesting look.

Katie De Milo

Katie C posed for the class tonight in a vibrant red dance outfit and red pointe shoes. I didn't get her arms on the page but really like this drawing anyway. It has good movement to the lines. 10 minutes, conte and pastel. $225

Drawin' in the New Year

It's always good to get back to drawing the figure after a break. We had a great turnout on a very cold GA night as the graceful, Emily M posed. Great poses...including this one that looked good from all angles. 15 minute conte and pastel.
